I know...its been too long
Hello everyone!

I can't say sorry enough for dissapearing like I have the past month. It has been a great few weeks and full of golf, learning, and growing closer to the Lord.

Since my last post I played in one NGA hosted in Hawkinsville, GA, took some time to examine my game, traveled back across America, and played in the San Juan Open.

The NGA in Hawkinsville was another tough event for me where I played really solid, but simply didn't score very well. The cut was -5 and I finished at -1 for the first 36. After missing the cut there I went back to the drawing board and started examining my game and process once again. I found that to my standards, I haven't been working hard enough. The past three weeks since that realization I began working out harder, practicing with more purpose, and most importantly - looking to God and diving into the word. The results were amazing in a short time.

Last week I made the 23 hour treck from NC to Pueblo, CO where I am now staying with my good friend Zach Zaremba and his family. I also have to tell you the reason I am not playing the NGA in Texas right now is due to a bonehead mistake. I didn't get my entries sent in on time and therefore missed getting the opportunity there. However, sometimes things happen for good reason.

Instead of playing the first NGA in Texas I ended up back to the San Juan Open in Farmington, NM. The San Juan was one of my favorite tournaments from last year and I was excited to be back. I started the tournament with a solid 65 with a fortunate hole in one on the 18th hole (my ninth that day) and took the lead by two shots. I was very happy to just play a solid round like I knew I could and be in the heat of competition again. Rounds two and three brought on scores of 71 and 68 leaving me six shots back heading into the final round. I started the final round with the only thought that had got me to that spot "stay within myself and do my best not to think about score and the other players". One bogie and seven birdies later I found myself carding another 65 and in the running to win the event. I thought for sure I would be heading into a playoff but after both of the players finishing behind me made bogie on 18 I became the champion.

Last weeks experience of winning my first professional event was very special and I want to take the opportunity to thank all my sponsors and all of you back home who have helped me so much in getting to this spot. It has made me more determined than ever and so grateful God has given me this chance to continue getting better. Thank you!

Next I'll be headed to the Wyoming Open July 13-15th and then the Colorado Open July 26- 29 before heading back to the east coast.

NGA's @ Cherry Blossom and Three Ridges
The past two weeks have not been quite as prosperous in terms of making money and placing well in tournaments as the weeks preceding, but they have been monumental none the less.

If there is one thing I've learned out here thats really beginning to stick with me is this journey is a constant learning process. It is also a process that is testing every fiber of my being, urging me to be proficient in areas where I lack, both in golf and life.

Last week and this week I have had this weight on my heart asking some big, deep questions. During some good fellowship Kyle Morris, one of my new friends out here, brought to my attention a question that stopped me in my tracks. Why am I out here? Why do I play golf? If you're reading this going "Oh no.." believe me there is no reason to worry about my drive to succeed in professional golf. I simply needed to revisit my reasons behind the drive to re-energize and gain some conviction.

I am still trying to fully answer the question, but a few of the responses I have come up with I will share with you. For one I simply love to play golf, it has always been the most peaceful place for me to be. Without fail it also brings to light the areas of incompetence in my life. Secondly, I play golf because I want to succeed. The idea of being able to work hard and see results has always been one of the best things about life for me. Golf gives me the chance to do this on a daily basis.

Uniquely this one has brought on another area of questioning for me. How do I bring glory to God with such a selfish ambition? I've realized in reading through some scriptures that God wants us to succeed and its what we make of the success that dictates how we have given glory.
1 Corinthians 9:24 "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one recieves the prize. Run in such a way as if to get the prize."
1 Corinthians 6:20 "For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."

After realizing a couple of these things it became clear to me I'm out here for the right reasons and I feel good about this wonderful path. I have also realized that I need to work a bit harder if I want to succeed. Not that I haven't been practicing and working hard, but it needs to be more productive. If I haven't already said this already "These guys are good!" If I wish to be a success and rise among the ranks, my work ethic needs to be worthy of getting the prize!

Anyways, heres how the golf part went. Cherry Blossom was the first event I played in at Georgetown, KY. I missed the cut by 7 shots, but then again it was at -6 for two rounds. I feel like I played well enough to be right there just didn't read the greens very well. This weeks event was at Three Ridges in Knoxville, TN which by the way is a gorgeous place! I shot a first round 74 ( 3) and then second round 68 (-3) to miss the cut by one. It was a bummer to miss by just one because I certainly had my chances down the last stretch of holes for another birdie, but just didn't happen this go round. The first round I was not mentally in a condition to perform. I know, I will do my best to not let it happen again. As bad as it sounds though, from what you read earlier, it was a necessary lesson and will be an experience I will always remember.

Lastly, I'm on the road for one more week before I go back to Charlotte for a week. Tomorrow I will be headed down to Hawkinsville, GA to start preparing for the event down there. Feeling good about it and ready to put in the work whether it shows up sooner or later in score!

Thanks for checking in and I hope you are all excited to be here, we all are truly blessed given the chance at doing something amazing every day! Its there, we just have to be looking!

P.S. - If any of you are getting one of my mom's lemon pies later on this month I am super jealous. Those things are a slice of perfection!

The Past Two Weeks
Hey Everyone!

Sorry its been a couple of weeks since my last update! Things have been busy!! Since the last post I have played in two NGA's, U.S. Open Locals, and had a special visit from Coach Susie Meyers.

NGA McCormick, SC:

The tournament in McCormick at Monticello Golf Club was a blast and has marked my highest finish in a NGA event so far. I carded rounds of 70, 69, 73, 68 to place t19th at -8.

NGA North Augusta, SC:

In North Augusta I was blessed enough to play well once again and make my third cut in a row. After walking the tough hills of the Mount Vintage Plantation CC I carded rounds of 71, 69, 69, 75 to finish t32nd. After three rounds I was t13th and in good shape to have another great finish, but instead I received a learning experience. On the final round I was very pleased with my process and found my skills simply weren't as sharp that day. I learned my bunker skills and ball-striking need practice in certain areas so I have some homework before the next event.

U.S. Open Locals:

In the U.S. Open local qualifier I played at Pinewild CC in Pinehurst, NC and missed getting an opportunity to advance by 2 shots. It was a good day overall and I just didn't have enough putts go in.

That just about sums up the last couple of weeks and while it was a terrific time I am excited about my week off this week. It has felt great to get a couple of days off and be able to get some good practice in without becoming too worn out.

I am home in Huntersville until Tuesday next week where I will head to Georgetown, KY for the next event!

Thanks again for checking in!

Gabe

NGA at Cross Creek
Hello!

Well last week at Cross Creek in Seneca, SC was a great event and being my first cut made out here on the NGA I was very excited about it. I shot rounds of 70, 73, 72, 73 to finish at 4 for the event and tied for 40th place.

The course we played was maybe one of the crazier tracks I have ever set foot on with all the undulation in the greens and slope around them. Some holes you could hit the green simply in the wrong place and be back down the fairway 30-40 yards pitching it back up the hill. This happened to me a couple of times and the thing is my shots were not of poor quality, the course was very unforgiving. All that said I really enjoyed the experience and learned a lot throughout the week.

Looking forward to this week, it looks like we'll be playing another challenging course, but a little more on the normal side. I am down in McCormick, SC and after a rest day yesterday feeling ready to go.

Thank you for checking in!

NGA Scotch Hall, NGA Carolina Series
Hey sorry for being a little late with this one!

Scotch Hall was another close one as many of you may have seen. No doubt I wish if I had to report anything close, it would be about winning events, but unfortunately, its making cuts at this time.

My Last couple of events have been tough for me missing the cuts when I feel I played great golf for most of the tournament. I have still had some trouble adjusting to my distances down here and really trusting that in events. Between that and not having good touch with my lag putts has cost me shots here and there adding up in big ways. Its crazy how back at home I can hit an 8-iron 165-170 and down here 150 seems to be stretching it most times! Visually this is something very new to get used to.

None the less I remain positive and certainly am seeing why I am out here. These tournaments may be missed cuts, but the feedback I get from them is immense and keeps growing my database of experience every time.

I got back from Scotch Hall last Saturday and decided to play in a smaller NGA event in Columbia, SC. The results were the same. I missed the cut by only a couple of shots after playing good golf and had a few misjudged situations that cost me.

Going forward I am home for the rest of the week tuning up the game and then on the road for a busy rest of April as you can see by the Schedule. I look forward to posting some positive results next week and once again sorry for the tardiness here.

Thank you for checking in!

NGA Tour at Cutter Creek
Hello,

Well its been another great week out here on the NGA Tour. The course we played this week was one of the tougher tracks I've ever been to and I certainly learned a lot. The course played 7300 yards and the wind was blowing around 20-25 mph both rounds. With a firm and fast course along with lots of water it made for a great test. Unfortunately I missed the cut again, but good things are happening.

My ball-striking has been fabulous the past couple of weeks, while the short game may need some practice. I have had some different experiences and must say the golf back here is much different than the west coast. Many of my mistakes have stemmed from being faced with new challenges and situations that arise from new grass types and the course layouts. No doubt this has been a lot of fun and the reason I am here.

I feel very confident as I continue to have these experiences I will only get smarter and be a better player for them.

Next week is supposed to be a great course as well and I look forward to another opportunity to learn more about golf and my game.

Thank you very much for checking in and see ya next week!

Cheers,

Gabe

eGolf at the Irish Creek
Hey Everybody,

Another great week on tour. For two rounds I shot 73, 69 (-1) and missed the cut by one. Yes, I certainly would have liked to make the cut, but good lessons were learned in lieu of me playing the weekend.

My biggest lesson came in the form of the par-3 15th hole during my 69. Coming into the hole I was -7 for my round and lighting it up. Needless to say I made a poor club choice...twice. I made an 8 on the par 3, and as unfortunate as it was, I look at it as a learning opportunity. Might sound like a silly mistake at my level, which it was, but I grew in my thinking and believe that experience will play a supporting role in my future success.

After the 8 I was also able to accept it and kept rolling right along which was huge for me. I lipped out birdies on no's 16 and 17 and then rolled in a 20 footer for birdie on 18 to finish the day. All 8's aside, the good news is the game is in good shape. I look forward to playing next week and can't wait to get back out there!!

Thanks for checking in!

Cheers,

Gabe

First Hooters Tour Event
Hello!

I just got back to Huntersville and preparing for my next event which starts on Wednesday already! I was down in Gainesville, GA and absolutely had a great time. I got of to a great start firing a first round 66 (-5) to get into a tie for second. Unfortunately, after the first round there wasn't much golf to be played. Due to severe weather the tournament was eventually cancelled on Sunday. I was sad we didn't get to play atleast 36 holes to make it a tournament, but clearly God sometimes has different plans.

The experience of playing in my first Hooters event was still a lot of fun regardless of the delays. The tournaments a run very well and they even have a tour van that roles around to every event! It was very cool and I know I'm in the right spot.

I have to extend my thanks to Ron and Marquita Savastono (friends of Jim and Diane Blakeslee) for allowing me to stay in their home. It was a wonderful experience and thank you also to Jim and Diane for making that happen!

Thank you once again for logging on and I look forward to letting you know how this week goes on the eGolf Tour!

Gateway at Vista Verde
Hey everyone sorry for the delay!

As you may know I played in my second Gateway event last week at Vista Verde Golf Club in Phoenix. Another great event in the books for me. I shot 70, 66, 73 for (-7) and a T7th finish in the event. I was tied for second going into the final round and faltered some on the front due to simply being in that situation at this point. It was a great learning opportunity and I was fortunate to get that experience this early in the year. No doubt I will be more prepared next time!

I'm currently in a Starbucks about to leave Tucson, AZ and headed out to North Carolina and the Hooters Tour by the end of the week. My first Hooters event will hopefully start on the 12th and I will be updating more on that soon.

Thanks for logging on and talk to you soon.

God Bless!

Gabe

Gateway at Trilogy
Hey out there,

Well I finished up yesterday with my first event of the year in the Gateway Tour event at Trilogy Golf Club in Phoenix, AZ. I was fortunate enough to bring some game with me and finished T11th out of 95 players. I went to the event as a warmup to see where I was at and was greatly surprised. I fired rounds of 72, 69, and 67 on the par 71 course.

The second round was the most exciting for me, with three holes to go I had a feeling I was a little behind the cut but wasn't going to give up just yet. With a difficult up and down for par on 16 and surprising eagle on the par 5 17th I was able to make the cut on the number. The 67 the final round was a bonus and going forward I know I am on the right track and looking forward to the next event!

Thanks for following and look to the first page for the new "Next Event Blog"!

Sincerely,

Gabe

Upcoming Tourament
Hey Everyone!

Well just to catch you up I've been very busy the last three weeks since I left Cody. At the end of January I spent a week in Orlando, FL at the PGA Show seeing all the new equipment and being fortunate enough to get fit for some! After that I traveled over to Tucson, AZ where I have been for the past two weeks. I am staying with my coach Susie Meyers and family practicing in the warm weather and getting ready to start the season.

My golf game is beginning to come out of hibernation and I will be playing in my first event come this Tuesday. It will be a Gateway Tour event at Trilogy GC in Phoenix. I tee off at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday and 11:09 a.m. Wednesday. It is a three day event with a cut to the low 35% of the field. You will be able to follow scores at gatewaytour.com.

Thank you for following and I will be in touch at the end of the week to let you all know how it went!

God Bless!

Gabe
